People like Gallmart make me laugh especially when they bring up the part about how “most” mexicans are catholic and speak spanish and therefore are “hispanic.” lol People like him are the ones who really lost touch with their identity.

Cesar Chavez wasn’t a Hispanic! He doesn’t look White!

Cesar Chavez is an Indigneous civil rights activist for the UFW.

    Hispanic are PEOPLE OF SPAIN!

Latinos are PEOPLE OF ROMAN ANCESTRY!

    Both are European and WHITE!

How can Cesar Chavez be European and White?

We are Nican Tlaca, Indigneous people of the western Hemisphere. We are NOT Latinos nor Hispanics! Never will be!

We are Nican Tlaca, We are Mexican, Central American, Native American, South American, Pure and mix descendants

Peruanista… I agree … maybe these honkees are talking about Hispanola… which is present day Haiti ….

ha, no mayates celebrate Kwanza. Those are actual Africans that weren’t brought over hundreds of years ago for the slave trade

Go ahead, and keep “true to the movement” my friend, I’m glad you have passion for what you believe in, keep up the good fight! haha

That is your choice, but think before you try to offend me with your brainwashed mentality. Will you ask African Americans to change their Anglo names before they celebrate Kwanzaa or take pride on their African roots? Grow up man.

well, I don’t plan on going around in a loin cloth, speaking Nahuatl, and worshiping Quetzalcoatl, any time soon…. but hey, if you’re in such the liberating mood yourself, I suggest it that you look into for yourself? Maybe instead of a name like Carlos, you could change it to…I don’t know? …vicaquirao?

haha, you’ve been a fun guy to talk to, best wishes to you as well, I hope you can perhaps become a bit wiser with age.

@ Your history? I am talking about our peoples connections before the Hispanic invasion and before the biggest genocide in human history, which our ancestors survived. You was conquered, but you can still liberate yourself. Best wishes.

and its funny this guy calls me a vendido, because he obviously doesn’t have the ability to read my posts…

you can think what you want, but you’d never share my history. We can’t share Benito Juarez, Pancho Villa, Emiliano Zapata, you don’t share with us Túpac Amaru II o Mariano Melgar.

As far as indigenous is concerned, the only thing we share is we both were conquered.
y es más, mexicanos no son mexicano-americanos, and I find it an insult to interchange the two words. If I were born there, I’d be more than proud to say that I was Mexican, but I’m not, and that is disrespecting those who are.

@ Gallmart, you are free to feel proud of whatever you feel like it, the vendido mentality is nothing new. ANd by the way, Peru and Mexico peoples are very close to each other when it comes to ethnic and cultural heritage, we share a common history.

  11. gallmart says:

    Hispanic

yeah, imposed, but we’re still proud

They used the convert or die method back in the day…probably wouldn’t go over so well in today’s day in age.

I know how they practice, for I am one. Too many people are praying towards saints in latinoamerica, and not enough towards Jesus Christ himself. It’s holding on to that heritage there, almost praying towards multiple gods, as our ancestors did.

You don’t need to try to lecture me on Mexico-Americanos, my friend…stick to what you know…Peru.

@ Gallmart: read your history but including our Native voice. Our surnames were imposed to our grandparents, who were placed in reservations all over the continent, their religions were forbidden, their languages also. Catholic religion is from Rome, not from Hispania and the way we worship in this continent is different because it’s influenced by Indigenous and Africans deities and beliefs. Cesar Chavez heritage was Indigenous, he was a Native man, not a Hispanic European.

….Hopefully one day we can start refocusing on that?

I’m proud that that my family knew a good man, and I’m proud to sleep under the UFW bandera that hangs over my bed, which is signed by Huerta.

    Chicano hasta la madre cabrones!

my dad and his family joined Cesar Chavez in countless marches through the streets of northern California, Patterson/Modesto area.

They even were there one of the times he broke fast, they had sandilla :)

My dad always mentions the “bad *** motherfuckers” that marched with Chavez. Guys that were ready to fight, eran encabronados!

What people forget is that Chavez wasn’t for undocumented workers…they were scabs, breaking the strikes. He was for AMERICAN farm workers, brown, white, purple

Carlos, people such as yourself make me laugh. What are two of the things that give hispanos so much pride? our last names and Catholic heritage (you could have neither, I’m just assuming by majority rule)

And here you go, ranting about oppressors yada yada yada…it happened, deal with it.

Now back to point, Cesar Chavez was a good man, but these videos are always one sided, giving me a look from the inside, just once I’d like to see one from a UFW viewpoint…

Exactly, it is an offensive term that takes pride in the invasion and genocide of our people, therefore we can’t accept the identity of our oppressors. Most of our population in the Americas are Native Americans people, and we don’t only speak Spanish, English, Portuguese and other European tongues. We also speak Native Indigenous languages, hundreds. And did you know 1/3 of Latin Americans are Afro descendants?

  17. ThePeaceSeekerMaria says:

    Hispanic

    Hispanic refers to the following:

the term is used to describe the culture and people of countries formerly ruled by Spain, usually with a majority population of substantial Spanish heritage and speaking the Spanish language. These include Mexico and most Central and South American countries, most of the Greater Antilles, and the African nations of Equatorial Guinea and Western Sahara.

  18. CarlosQC says:

You wrong, Hispanics are from Spain and Mexican Americans are mostly Indigenous peoples.

  19. ThePeaceSeekerMaria says:

He was Mexican-American. That means he was Hispanic.

  20. Peruanista says:

Cesar Chavez was not a Hispanic, he was an Indigenous man of this continent. Cesar Chavez is a great icon of Native American history, especially for Mexican Americans. Please don’t disrespect him by calling him a Hispanic.

the only thing europeans achieved was to force people to convert into christians. kill off indians. rob africans of their country. take slaves. take over india and treat the people like **** in their own country. etc etc stop being stupid mexicans arent the only ones who come into this country . other latinos too. and we come for a better future even tho we have those few who dont take advantage. So stop the ****!
